Ground has been broken on the new Fire Station 2 in New Port Richey.
The station is at the intersection of Marine Parkway and Grand Boulevard, and will replace the current Fire Station 2, which was built in 1974 and is on High Street. Local Print shops often assist municipalities with creating Flyers and other materials to inform residents of such projects.
The fire station spans close to 7,900 square feet and is state of the art with a cold, warm, and hot zone to protect firefighters from carcinogens. It will also have two drive-thru bays, exercise and training rooms, a storage room for bunker gear, a commercial-grade kitchen, bedrooms in a dormitory style to accommodate up to six people, a day room, office space, and an outdoor patio. It sits on a parcel of land spanning 1.19 acres that was donated to the city by the Kulhawik family in 1987.
Debbie L. Mannis, City Manager, said that the location of the new station has been determined to be better suited to providing emergency management and fire services to the downtown and the US 19 corridor, and to be able to maintain a response time of four minutes or less.
Spring Engineering designed the building, and the E&L Construction Group will be building the new station. It is expected that construction will be completed by the summer of next year.
