Rockin marathon to return to Miramar

Miramar’s Rockin’ Rib Run will come back this November, combining a marathon with a feast of ribs, beer, and more.

The event challenges participants to run a 10-kilometer distance. Following the race, there will be awards provided for men and women, with an additional prize for “masters” runners. Over $20,000 is available for prizes, with a $4,000 first prize for the top men and women, and an additional $1,000 for breaking the event record. The run is certified by USA Track and Field and elite runners like James Ngandu, Vicoty Chepngeno, and Daniel Docherty are also confirmed to participate. The Run has been taking place annually since 2013.

Runners who have worked up an appetite can enjoy unlimited baby back ribs from Flanigan’s, a local pub. There will also be wine and beer available for those over 21. Wristbands are available for those who just want the food and beverages without taking part in the run. Long-distance runs like this are a popular challenge for both professional athletes and ordinary people interested in fitness, and often use flyer printing, social media, and other low-cost marketing methods to connect to the community. Participants must register in advance.

The 2021 edition of the Rockin’ Rib Run will take place on the morning of November 21 at Vista View Park in Miramar.
