Construction on the Pembroke Pines City Center is planned to begin in the second quarter of this year.
The project, which will be next to the civic and cultural center of Pembroke Pines, a city just a short distance from Miramar, will have restaurants, shops, and apartments on 47 acres of land. The civic and cultural complex is currently under construction and, when completed will have an outdoor plaza, a great hall with seats for 3,500 people, an art gallery, a new city hall, and commission chambers.
According to the Mayor of Pembroke Pines, Frank Ortis, this will help to create a downtown for the city, for both residents and visitors.
Dave Martin, president of Terra, a residential and commercial development firm based in Coconut Grove, said the first phase will be retail space, anchored by a grocery store, and this will be completed in two years. The addition of 450 apartments and 100,000 square feet of space for businesses will be part of phase two. Two hotels could also be built on the site, with 120 rooms in each.
Although Martin said he could not disclose which businesses would be occupying the space, it is expected there will be 30 to 40 tenants, including a fitness center and a movie theater. All of these businesses could use banner printing services to announce their openings once the time is appropriate.
