Wayne Messam, the mayor of Miramar, recently presented the key to the city to Don Wehby, the CEO of Caribbean-based food and finance company GraceKennedy Group.
The occasion was the last of three town hall forums, where approximately 1,000 people of Jamaican and Caribbean backgrounds came out for an evening dialogue with GraceKennedy. The forums were held through the Money Services branch of the company, along with Western Union, its partner of 25 years. Presentations included a keynote address from the former Prime Minister P.J. Paterson, General Manager of Western Union Sean Mason, and Wehby himself.
Mayor Messam, who is of Jamaican lineage, presented the key to Wehby at the event of the proceedings. Only those esteemed visitors and residents receive a key to the city. Mayor Messam praised Wehby for his work and contributions in the private sector, his two years in government, and his contributions to Jamaica overall. He added that his leadership of GraceKennedy enabled the business to grow in the United States and increase the popularity of the company’s products in Florida in general.
An honor from State Representative Hazelle Rogers, and another award from the man responsible for the Grace Jamaican Jerk Festivals, Eddy Edwards, were also presented to Wehby at the proceedings.
