Miramar newborns sleeping safely thanks to award-winning hospital program

Cribs for Kids has recognized a nearby hospital as a leader in teaching safe sleeping practices for newborns during their hospital stay.

The Memorial Hospital West in Pembroke Pines was named a Gold Safe Sleep Champion in September by the National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification Program established by the Cribs for Kids organization. The Gold certification is the highest award presented by the group.

The hospital earned the accolade due to its policies that include staff training and advice for new parents. The hospital was also noted for its community outreach and its use of wearable blankets; a secure garment designed to be used alone to provide warmth for newborns and eliminate the need for loose blankets.

Business owners catering to new parents and their offspring will benefit by providing parents with valuable safety tips, as this hospital has for its own patients. Presenting ideas and information about safety through a simple booklet printing is easy to include with other Mailing services.

Cribs for Kids began in 1998 as a national initiative designed to improve sleep safety practices for infants across the nation. It partners with other organizations around the country to help spread information to parents and people working with infants. Interested businesses, charitable groups, and individuals can work with the national organization, local chapters, or start a campaign in their own neighborhood.
