Miramar area bowlers and spectators alike are invited to the 2017 Bowling for Rhinos conservation event.
The keepers at Miami Zoo are taking part again in the annual American Association of Zookeepers (AAZK) North American fundraising event. Bowling for Rhinos 2017 is a bowl-a-thon that gives all proceeds raised during the event to wildlife refuges protecting rhinos in Asia and Africa. The event will take place on July 21st at the Bird Bowl Bowling Center.
Registration to the event includes a raffle ticket, refreshments and shoe rental. T-Shirts are also available with registration for an additional $10. The AAZK sends the proceeds to LWC (Lewa Wildlife Conservancy) in Kenya and Action for Cheetahs due to their land-sharing agreement with LWC. Other recipients include Ujung Kulon National Park in Indonesia, Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park and Way Kambas in Sumatra. Over $500,000 is raised by the AAKZ each year and over $6 million has been collected since the project began in 1990.
Anyone wishing to contribute can register and bowl, donate directly to the zoo or organize their own fundraisers. A sale of rhino embossed memorabilia could increase interest in the cause. Promotional Products like hats and T-Shirts are always popular but also consider Stationery printing with a rhino logo or invest in poster or postcard printing with the details of the conservation effort.
Checks should be made out directly to AAKZ for the bowl-a-thon or any personal fundraiser. The event will be held on July 21st from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM at 9275 SW 40 Street in Miami. Adult registration is $35 and includes a t-shirt or $25 without. Registration for children 12 and under is $15.
