Evening event celebrates Panama's independence

A cultural evening will be all about all things Panamanian, aimed at highlighting the country's rich cultural heritage in South Florida.

The SOFLO Panamanian Association’s Cultural Evening will feature a variety of performances and activities that showcase the traditions and talents of Panama’s artists and performers.

Panamanian bands that include natives from Florida will be performing live in the evening. The music will be played by DJ Panama 305, who will give guests a chance to boogie and enjoy the party mood.

There will also be a silent auction during which attendees can take part in bidding for valuable objects and experiences. It gives them an avenue through which they can contribute towards the ongoing projects. All proceeds raised are directed at cultural activities and charitable causes. Promotional Products are sometimes used as prizes in raffles.

Three local personalities who have been instrumental in community development will be recognized and honored for their work. This event also marks the launch of the Lidia Wallace scholarship program that targets deserving students about to join college.

Proceeds from this Cultural Evening will be used by SOFLO Panamanian Association to propagate Panamanian culture in the U.S. and offer assistance in Panama. In the last three years alone, the association has given out over 310 care packages to victims of disasters in the Central American Country

The SOFLO Panamanian Association will host its Cultural Evening, a celebration of Panama’s independence, at the Miramar Cultural Center on Saturday, November 16.
