Two events to show different approaches to art

This August, two very different art exhibits are taking place close to Longwood and art likely to tempt aficionados to make the short drive.

First up, ‘Oceans Apart, Shared Art’ is an exhibition featuring porcelain art, which is being held in Kissimmee. It is hosted by the International Porcelain Artists and Teachers Association and is a juried competition. A three-day show, it will feature a variety of hand-painted works of art that are available for purchase. There is also set to be a live auction, and artists will also be giving demonstrations of their art.

It will be held at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center from August 7 - 9. Artists’ demonstrations are $3 each. For more information, call 817-284-5790.

The other event is taking place in Orlando until September. ‘Groundwork: a living walls art show’ features art made from plants. This is a group exhibition and will be displaying and selling the work of five artists. A reception will be held on the opening night.

‘Groundwork’ will be on display at the Twelve21 Gallery from August 8 to September 1. Admission is free. The opening reception is being held on August 8 from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Call 407-982-4357 to learn more.

Both of these shows will no doubt be advertised in the surrounding areas, such as Longwood. Local Print companies often help by providing items such as Flyers.
