U.S. Hunger will be holding a community event in February at its Longwood facility to help hungry children and their families.
The 8th Annual Windermere Community Hunger Project is a volunteering opportunity where people can assist those in need by Packaging meals to send overseas. There will be one shift available for volunteers to join from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Those interested in supporting the cause of U.S. Hunger can donate money to help pay for meals. The food packages offered to those in need include items such as red lentil jambalaya and Italian veggie pasta.
U.S. Hunger was established in 2010 to provide aid to people in Haiti after earthquakes ravaged their villages. The charity merged with the group Change This World in 2015 and launched America’s Virtual Food Bank™ in 2020. Since its formation, the organization has distributed more than 147 million meals to combat hunger in 53 countries. The current chief executive officer of the group is Rick Whitted, and the chief technology officer is Ezekiel Brooks.
The community volunteering program will be held on Sunday, February 5. Those interested in assisting U.S. Hunger with packaging meals for families must register for the event in advance. Organizations such as U.S. Hunger that provide assistance to those in need may use banner printing services to raise local awareness for their volunteer opportunities.
