Longwood to host race for organ donation

AdventHealth and Orlando Health will be teaming up this October to help organize a race at Lyman High School in Longwood.

The 2020 GR8 to DON8 Run for Organ Donation event is an 8k and 5k that aims to raise awareness for donating tissues and organs. The race will be timed, and the course will run through the scenic backroads in Longwood. Skaters, bikers, and pets will not be allowed to participate. The top three male and female runners who complete the course will earn a reward, in addition to the top three runners from each age category.

The organ and tissue donation awareness event was created by Dr. Jeff Sadowsky. He and his friends decided to organize the event to help educate people on the topic while also raising financial support for the organization OurLegacy. The money helps the group with completing projects such as the Wall of Heroes and supplying Lyman High School with educational bricks. Those who create charitable events similar to this can utilize flyer printing to send ads through the mail to locals.

The 2020 GR8 to DON8 Run for Organ Donation event will be held on October 24th from 7:00 am to 10:00 am. Participating in the 5k will cost $30 for adults and $18 for students, and joining the 8k will be $35 for adults and $20 for students. Virtual runners can pay $40 to join the race.
