Seminole County Watershed Management will be coordinating a group activity in April to help restore Grace Lake.
Those interested in earning volunteer hours while helping the environment can attend a group restoration activity that is part of the SERV Program. Attendees will assist Seminole County Watershed Management with planting new trees and aquatic plants along the shoreline of Grace Lake. The added plants will improve the ecosystem and water quality of the lake. All volunteers are required to put on closed-toed shoes for the experience.
Seminole County’s Watershed Management Division is an organization in charge of protecting, conserving, and restoring local water sources. The group is involved with controlling mosquito populations by using environmentally safe and economically responsible tactics. The division also organizes educational activities to teach locals about maintaining good water quality. County organizations such as this may use poster printing to promote their volunteering activities at public venues.
The restoration session at Grace Lake will take place on April 2 from 9:00 am to noon. There is no cost to be a volunteer for the program, though participants must complete a liability form. It is recommended that attendees wear old clothing, sun protection, and work gloves while helping out at the lake. Wearing bug protection is also suggested.
