The Longwood Historic Society will be hosting a Halloween-themed race in October to raise funds for its preservation efforts.
The Monster Dash 5k is a fun activity where costumed participants can run through the community while listening to family-friendly seasonal tunes. Prizes will be given to entrants with the best outfits. Several scenic sections of the city are included in the course, such as Reiter Park and Historic Longwood. There will even be a free kid’s dash held before the 5k. Organizers for public programming like this can promote the activity with banner printing.
All proceeds from the monster race will go towards the Longwood Historic Society’s restoration goals. The organization is currently working on repairing the Bradlee-McIntyre House, which is a local landmark originally owned by Nathaniel J. Bradlee. Businesses can help the non-profit group by becoming a sponsor for the monster dash. Package prices begin at $250 and offer companies benefits such as t-shirt recognition and being featured on the event website.
The race will occur on Saturday, October 30th and will begin at 8:00 am. The children’s dash will start at 7:45 am. Participants can pay $15 to sign up for the event, though prices will increase to $25 after August 30th. People may pick up their racing packets early on Friday, October 29th at the Historic Civic Center from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
