Herbs are easy to grow, add flavor to foods, and offer other benefits as well, and during a workshop that has been planned for the Longwood area, the public will have an opportunity to learn how to grow them in their own home garden.
The presentation, which will be facilitated by UF/IFAS Extension Seminole County Residential Horticulture Agent Kaydie McCormick, who will discuss the different herbs that can be grown in Florida’s gardens. She will talk about the various methods that can be used to propagate these plants and also how they can be successfully cultivated outdoors in a garden patch, in pots on a balcony, or even on a sunny windowsill.
In addition to providing gardening tips, those who attend will also have an opportunity to learn how to use the herbs, and they will have a chance to sample them themselves. McCormick will also be able to answer any questions the attendees may have about how they can grow herbs at home. Booklet printing can be utilized to provide handouts for an educational workshop such as this.
The Herbs in the Florida Garden workshop will be held in the UF/IFAS Extension Seminole County Auditorium, which is located at 250 W. County Home Road in Sanford, on June 3. More information and an opportunity to register have been made available on the Seminole County extension website.
