The 9th annual Candy Cane 5K Run is being held this December in nearby Winter Park. It is a fundraiser for Boys Town Central Florida.
The emcee for the run will be Allison Walker from News 13. The run is open to all ages, and there will be medals given to the top three finishers of each gender, as well as the winners in each age category.
Categories range from 10 and under, up to 70 and over. In addition, the 700 quickest finishers will also receive a medal. Other awards will be for the biggest team and the best costume. The day will also feature a free Kids’ Fun Run.
After the races, there will be free crafts and face painting in the Kids Zone, raffles, and an appearance by Santa Claus. Local vendors will also be on hand to sell food and general merchandise.
Organizers will likely be advertising this event all over Seminole County, including Longwood ,with the help of Flyers provided by local Print companies.
The event will take place at Central Winds Park in Winter Springs on December 12 from 7:00 - 10:00 am. Fees for adults are $25 until December 5 and $30 after, $20 for children aged 14 and under until December 11, or $35 for everyone on the day of the race. Call 407-588-2183 to learn more.
