A Ft. Lauderdale workshop hopes to show gardeners that weeds can be every bit as useful as introduced species.
Those who attend the “Gift of Weeds” learning session will discover how many types of flora that people think of as being invasive and unwanted can actually offer some benefits. The hope is that everyone who takes part will walk away with a greater appreciation for all the plants around them.
The plan is for the session to reveal many of the secrets of weeds, and the participants will find out how they have been used for medicine or food for many years, as well as how they can still find a place in today’s world. Anyone who has questions can direct them to the facilitators at Noelia@HealThePlanet.com.
While an activity like this often sparks an interest in the subject materials being presented, the attendees may find themselves walking away hungry to learn even more. Stationery printers will be able to supply an assortment of materials such as field guides and Journals, as well as ID tip sheets, which will allow them to continue making discoveries on their own.
This exploration of the wonderful world of weeds will be offered on September 18. Snyder Park will be providing space for the event, and its scheduled run time is two hours.
