Things set to get wet and wild in Ft. Lauderdale

The Flamingo Gardens is preparing to bring back its Wet n’ Wild Weekend.

The two-day event combines slippery, splashy fun with competitions, tours, and music for a quintessential summer experience.

Four different water slides will be set up at the park: an obstacle course slide, the tropical water slide, the wipeout water slide, and the double big kahuna water slide. A special area will also be set up for children aged five and under with a bounce house and slide, wading pools, and activity stations.

On top of the aquatic activities, a crafts area will be set up with fun items for children to make and take home. There will also be a series of competitions, including a picnic basket race, sponge races, a hula hoop contest, a water bucket race, and a spoon race. During the event, DJ/MC Anarchy will also be providing music.

It may also be a good time to tour the Flamingo Gardens. Narrated tram tours will run every half hour through the park, and three wildlife shows will be performed each day. Additionally, the Wray Home Museum will be open for visits. A full list of performances and a schedule can be found on the event Flyers.

The Wet n’ Wild Weekend will be held this weekend, July 16 and 17, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm at the Flamingo Gardens, located at 3750 Flamingo Rd. Admission is $9.95 for visitors 12 and up and $6.45 for ages 3 to 11. Anyone interested in more information should visit the website.
