Babysitting is often the first job experience in a young person's life, and youth from Fort Lauderdale who would like to start up their own childcare business may want to make sure they don’t miss out on a workshop organized with them in mind.
The day of learning, which is intended for kids who are between 11 and 15 years of age, will give the participants knowledge and skills they can use to be the best babysitters they can be. While parents do not need to stay with their child during the event, they will need to be with them for both sign in and pick up, and an emergency contact number must be provided.
The students in the class will learn how to set up, manage and promote their babysitting business, including how to act professionally when meeting with prospective customers. They will also find out how to handle a variety of challenging situations babysitters often encounter. Diapering, dressing, basic CPR, and other safety issues will be discussed, as will what to do if a child is choking.
This type of class can be helpful to young people who want to set up their own babysitting business and can aid them in standing apart from the crowd. Certificates of completion and wallet cards can be prepared for the participants by area Print shops.
Hollywood’s Esther Grossman Center will be offering the Babysitting Basics workshop on July 22. The registration fee is $20.
