A Fort Lauderdale urban farm is in need of some TLC, and a call has been put out to the area for volunteers who are willing to help.
Snyder Park has an edible food forest, and those who visit this city farm can pick fresh produce right in the heart of their community. The volunteers will get their hands dirty while they engage in a variety of tasks that will keep the plants healthy and strong, and as many of the cultivars grown are native species, it will allow them to add to their knowledge of foraging for wild Edibles as well.
To help keep this project running smoothly and ensure all the helpers will be safe, the activity is restricted to those who are at least eight years old, and minors will need to be with an adult. Proper attire, sunscreen, gloves and a hat are all recommended, and everyone may want to bring along water to drink and a snack.
This sort of activity can be an opportunity for the public to get involved in environmental stewardship. A flyer printing company can prepare a variety of materials to help spread the word about the function, and these can be posted throughout the community.
The clean-up crew is asked to be on site at Snyder Park by no later than 9:00 am on June 27. There’s enough spaces for 30 volunteers, and all help will be appreciated.
