Fort Lauderdale invited to go shoeless in annual run

When people think of going for a run, they usually grab their shoes and go. A Fort Lauderdale event will turn that idea on its head, and everyone is encouraged to unlace their sneakers and enjoy the feeling of sand on their bare feet.

The route for the annual Naked Feet 5k will be a simple one for the registrants to follow, as they will be running on the sand of Fort Lauderdale Beach. The participants will make their turn at the jetty located by Port Everglades, and the gentle ocean breeze will help to keep the participants cool and comfortable as they go.

All ages are welcome to register for this community event, and the staging area will be located in Fort Lauderdale Beach Park. The runners can leave their sneakers at home, and place awards will be presented to the participants who complete the route shoeless.

The organizers of the day noted that there will be a filtered water station on the beach, and they have asked everyone to bring along a refillable drinking container. They went on to say that they appreciate the support of the event’s community sponsors, and the Logo Design for these supporters have been added to the website set up for the occasion.

This unique activity will be hitting the sand on September 19. Its website can be consulted for the most up-to-date details about the day.
