Fort Lauderdale gets ready for divine dancing

Fort Lauderdale is preparing to return to a world of legends, dancing, and music as 5,000 years of Chinese culture is brought to the stage.

‘Shen Yun: Experience a Divine Culture’ mixes elaborate costumes, animated backdrops, and talented dancers to portray traditional Chinese legends for a modern audience.

A lively and colorful show, Shen Yun features some of the world’s most foremost classically trained dancers, and an orchestra that mixes Eastern and Western sounds. The backgrounds are animated, giving extra life to the stories told on stage. The stories told are different every year, but draw their inspiration from ancient Chinese folklore.

The Shen Yun performance group began in New York in 2006 by performers who wished to revive the traditional culture and heritage of China and share it with the world. The group is entirely nonprofit, and draws its performers from across the globe. They tour for six months out of the year, performing for limited engagements in cities in more than 20 countries.

Shen Yun: Experience a Divine Culture will be performing in Fort Lauderdale at the Broward Center located at 201 SW 5 Ave., from this Friday until Sunday (January 8 – 10).
