Orchids may sound like exotic plants that are hard to care for, but a Ft. Lauderdale workshop wants to change this perception.
Thanks to tissue culture and other propagation techniques, orchids have become more common and less expensive. Bonnet House Museum and Gardens in Ft. Lauderdale will be hosting an Orchid 101 workshop that will introduce the basics of their care, and everyone is welcome.
Orchid expert Jose Exposito, along with his team, will lead the session. During the class, the learners will find out how to choose the species and cultivars that are best suited to their skill level, and the basics of propagation and culture will be discussed. Watering and fertilizing are also on the agenda, and both epiphytic and terrestrial species will be reviewed. The function will wrap up with a tour of the site’s greenhouses and horticulture display. The participating fee starts at $30.
Many people would like to add plants to their home, but they may not know how to get started. Workshops that provide them with knowledge, tips, and advice may be appreciated by these future green thumbs, and Print shops will be able to supply any printed materials needed for the occasion.
This introduction to orchids will be offered on January 4 starting at 10:00 am. The venue is located at 900 North Birch Road in Ft. Lauderdale.
