Broward County remembers its Asian Pacific heritage

The Asian Pacific American Heritage Celebration is taking place for two days this May in Ft. Lauderdale. It is held in recognition of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, which honors those from Asia and the South Pacific Islands.

There will be plenty of activities for people of all ages over the two-day event. There will be music and dance performances from groups such as Ronin Taiko and the Association of Performing Arts of India, traditional foods, and arts and crafts activities.

The Big Kahuna Surf School will be giving surfing lessons, the Lanikilia Ike Outrigger Club will be letting people paddle a 40-foot outrigger canoe, and Kimono Hiro will allow children to dress up in the kimono of their choice and teaching them about the tradition. In addition, there will be bonsai demonstration in honor of National Bonsai Day.

Families from all around the Ft. Lauderdale area will probably want to attend at least one day of the festival. To publicize the event in the community, local Stationery printers may have been asked to provide products such as Flyers and Brochures.

The Asian Pacific American Heritage Celebration will be held at the Museum of Discovery and Science on May 9 to 10 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm each day. Tickets are $14 for adults, $13 for seniors, and $12 for children between the ages of two and twelve. To learn more, call 954-713-0930.
