Delray Beach to offer summer theatre program for kids

The Arts Garage in Delray Beach will hold a multi-week theatre camp for children throughout July.

PLACES! is a summer camp experience where kids ages 8-15 can learn about different aspects of theater from experienced instructors. Each week of camp will have a special theme, including Technical Theatre & Playwriting, Musical Theatre, and Acting. Children can learn about topics such as stage design basics, different improvisation forms, and how to do group choreography. Campers will get to perform for their family and friends at the end of each week.

Each session in PLACES! will be taught by a different teacher at Arts Garage. Steson Jean will teach children about playwriting, and Micah Stinson is in charge of the improvisation workshop. Mojena Talien will lead the acting classes. The instructors have participated in many theatrical productions, like James and the Giant Peach, The Country Wife, and The Producers. Jean is part of the group Improv Therapy and Talien has experience with lighting production and film directing.

The theatre-themed summer camp will begin on July 7th. Each week of camp will last five days, and sessions are from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The final day of camp is on August 1st. Those interested in one week of camp can pay $500, and parents who want their kids in all four camp weeks may pay $1,500. Arts organizations that host similar summer experiences may use flyer printing to advertise their programs.
