A representative from the National Audubon Society will hold a course in Delray Beach for kids interested in birds.
Bird Nerding 101 is a program that is part of the Delray Beach Historical Society’s Summer at Sea workshop series. The event will introduce students to local birds and teach participants about bird biology and conservation. Kids in the program will also get to make their own nesting birdhouse crafts and explore the heritage garden. Students are asked to bring their own bagged lunches to the bird workshop.
The National Audubon Society is an organization that is dedicated to protecting birds through diplomacy, science, and community building. The group was created in 1905 and has since grown to 507 chapters and 55 decided sanctuaries. People can help the society’s mission by donating online.
The instructor for the event is Autumn Kioti, an Audubon’s Education and Outreach Coordinator who is also an experienced interdisciplinary artist. They are also a poet and performer from South Florida who co-founded the Sea Change Collective. Kioti’s work has been supported by notable organizations like the Santa Fe Art Institute and The Last Frontier.
The bird program for children will be held on August 4th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Delray Beach Historical Society Bungalow & Heritage Gardens. The cost to attend the event is $25 per child. Organizations that hold children’s programs like this can use poster printing to promote their kid-friendly events to more families.
