Washington welcomes garlic planting party

Friends of the National Arboretum is a Washington based group that raises funds to support the venue and its plants, and it has an activity in store that will celebrate autumn’s arrival.

The National Arboretum's Garlic Planting Party and Bulb Sale will take full advantage of the fall weather by planting an assortment of garlic cultivars, and there will be other fun as well. It will offer an introduction to various cultivars of this member of the lily family, and everyone is welcome.

The attendees can lend hands with the planting, and as they do, they will pick up skills they may then put to us in their own garden. There will also be sweet potatoes to harvest, and everyone can sample some sugar cane juice. There will be other , nature based activities on the agenda, and the participants can purchase both edible and ornamental bulbs in the market area. More information will be released to the public as its date approaches.

While many may not realize it, fall can be a great time of the year to install both bulbs and perennials. A pop up market or other activity can encourage them to do so, and a flyer printing company will be happy to help build the buzz by preparing an assortment of marketing materials.

Friends of the National Arboretum has scheduled its Garlic Planting Party and Bulb Sale for October 25th. It will be held in the Washington Youth Garden.
