Washington to roll up its sleeves for workshop

Those who look at lush indoor plantings with a twinge of jealousy will not have to do so for long thanks to a Washington D.C. workshop.

Container gardening offers an easy way to add a touch of green to indoor spaces, and the techniques can also be used for growing plants on a balcony or other small outdoor area. The learners will discover how they can set up their own mini beds of flowers, foliage plants and even fruits and vegetables, and they will even be able to get their hands dirty while creating their own masterpiece.

The class will cover the basics of setting up a dish garden, and the students will find out how using sub-irrigation will keep their plants healthy even if they are away for a few days. Each student who registers will be able to use their non-refundable materials fee, which they can use to pay for an herb, RootPouch and also some potting soil to get it off to a healthy start.

Sessions like this often have a lot of information to pack a small amount of time. Printed tip sheets will make it a lot easier for the participants to get started with their own plantings, and these can be ordered from local Stationery printers.

This horticultural activity will take place next Sunday, January 31, starting at 1:00 pm. The venue can be found at 910 Bladensburg Road Northeast.
