Washington project to remove invasive plants

An opportunity is on the way for Washington residents who have been looking for a chance to get involved with environmental stewardship, and their work will be part of a larger collective effort.

The public is invited to sign up now for The Weed Wrangle®, a one-day activity that will give public parks some care and attention. Tudor Place will be the locations, it is free to get involved, and all assistance will be appreciated.

Volunteers will be removing invasive and non-native species. This can be an important step, because they outcompete local plants for food, water, light, and other resources. Everyone will receive instructions, and should be aware that they will be working on inclines. Registrants are reminded to wear long pants and appropriate footwear, and even if it is hot and sunny, long sleeves are also recommended. The participants will have to supply their own food and water.

A hands-on environmental activity may be a lot of work, but it can also be fun and comes with the satisfaction of a job well done. Promotional Products and thank you certificates can be crafted to hand out to helpers with a project.

The Weed Wrangle® will be showing some love to the native plants on Tudor Place’s grounds on Saturday, September 23. The work will begin at 10:00 am.
