An opportunity to be part of a useful and collaborative experience will soon be offered to Washington residents.
The Friends of Mount Vernon Trail works hard to preserve the community’s natural spaces. It has scheduled an invasive species removal session for an area near Trollheim Island Bridge and Theodore Roosevelt Island.
Those who register for the work will be tackling a variety of tasks, for which they may be asked to use pruners, handsaws, a leaf blower or broom, and other equipment. They will also haul away the unwanted vegetation, and a trash pickup is also in the works.
Everyone who Signs up is asked to bring sturdy gloves, wear long sleeves and pants, and bring a bottle of water. Groups are welcome, but the organizers have asked those with more than 20 members to contact them in advance at hello@mountvernontrail.org.
Members of the public may appreciate the opportunity to be part of a community project that gives Mother Nature a helping hand. A flyer printing company can help by preparing an assortment of marketing materials, many of which can be recycled once they are no longer needed.
This day of hands-on environmental action will run from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 16. More information about timings and the exact location where the registrants will meet up before they start work can be found on its event listing.
