Engaging in hands-on environmental stewardship can be both fun and rewarding, and Washington residents have been asked to roll up their sleeves and be part of a local project.
The Friends of Mount Vernon Trail have put out a call seeking assistance with an invasive species control project planned for the Trail. Kudzu, sometimes known as Japanese arrowroot, will be the species targeted.
The participant will be tackling the kudzu overgrowth around the old power plant, and as this species grows quickly and smothers out other types of flora, it is a task that needs to be undertaken as early as possible. Volunteers may engage in tasks such as pruning and removing branches and vegetation, and everyone is advised to wear long pants and long sleeves, as well as gloves, and to bring water. The venue can be reached by public transit, and parking is also available.
Organizing volunteer events may involve using custom Forms and paperwork, and Stationery printers can supply a range of options. Letterheads registration Forms, waivers, and other documents can all be prepared, including a Logo Design or other graphics if desired.
This day of hands-on environmental action will run from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, September 28. The exact location can be found by visiting its web listing, which offers both Google Maps and Google Street View options.
