The programs for the month of August were recently announced by the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury.
The closing of the exhibit ‘Heartbreak in Peanuts’ took place from 6:00 to 9:00 pm last Thursday, August 10, and provided an opportunity for young professionals to share the stories of their heartbreaks. Attendees were able to write up their stories on a typewriter, after which the stories were posted on a temporary wall of broken relationships. Cocktails and food were served, along with a visit from the Red Baron.
Coming up next, David Davison, former Director of the American Savings Foundation, will be presenting an art talk about Winslow Homer, discussing the artist’s views of nature and the place of man within it. Homer was a painter of seascapes and landscapes that ranged from the Adirondack Mountains, to the coast of Maine. The talk will take place beginning at 5:30 pm next Tuesday, August 22.
Trained museum educators will be providing hands-on activities for children with autism and their families, enabling them to explore the history and art galleries of the Museum. This special event will take place from noon to 2:00 pm on August 27.
Museums often benefit from the assistance of a local printing company to advertise their events and activities with Posters and Banners that can be displayed throughout the community.
