Forging workshop teaches crafting near Waterbury

A weekend of knife forging and learning is set to kick off near Waterbury, and craftspeople and other interested parties are invited to enroll.

The Forging Chef Knives with Matthew Parkinson workshop has an official date on the calendar for next month, and Waterbury residents with an interest in forging and crafting can participate, enhance their skills, and gain experience. Students who enroll will learn to forge, grind, and heat treat the knives they create, while also learning the proper steps and techniques for crafting steel kitchen knives.

Matthew Parkinson, a local blacksmith with years of experience, will lead the workshop. Being the most commonly used knife in a kitchen, the workshop will focus primarily on the chef’s knife. It will be held over two days, and students will be able to take the knives they forge home with them. Brochure printing is an effective way to share tips and instructions with attendees at such crafting workshops.

All participants must be 18 or older to sign up for the class. Spots are limited, so interested parties should make reservations while they remain. Students are required to wear appropriate clothing for safety purposes.

The forging class is set for the weekend of July 19th and 20th, starting at 9:00 AM. It will be held at 10 Swiss Lane in nearby Wolcott. Registration is $370 per student online.
