Dance raises funds for cancer research in Waterbury

Waterbury residents will want to dust off their dancing shoes and grab a partner, as a dancing fundraiser is being organized to raise money for a good cause.

The 3rd Annual Smilow Cancer Dance-a-Thon has an official date on the calendar and will begin welcoming interested parties to have a great time and dance the day away for a good cause. The event is being organized by CRC Studio and Closer To Free, two local organizations.

The organizers are providing the dancing session to community members, friends, and family members who have lost loved ones to cancer. Each dancer will have the chance to contribute toward research for a cure with the hope of being able to better treat and assist future cancer patients. Flyer printing is a cost-effective way for organizers to spread the word about such events to increase attendance and reach a broad audience.

The event’s sponsor will be Andrew Bottinick, a cancer survivor and the chairman of the Naugatuck YMCA. The fundraiser will also sponsor multiple cyclists in an upcoming Smilow Cancer Bicycle Race. The dance session will be hosted by Carolyn Collazo, who has used Zumba to improve her health.

The dance-a-thon will be held at Simply Fit Junkies in Waterbury on Saturday, August 30th, from noon to 3:00 PM. Interested parties can make reservations by submitting an RSVP online.
