Waterbury grocery store hires dietician to improve customer health and wellness

Owner of the ShopRite of Waterbury, Paul Tornaquindici, recently announced the addition of Lauren Hassan, a Registered Dietitian, to the team of wellness experts at the store as part of its “Fuel Better Campaign.”

Tornaquindici said that Hassan’s role will be to provide customers with suggestions for products, recipes, and other ideas that will help people to feel better. She will also offer one-on-one nutrition counseling as well as information to transform a pantry, and recipes with healthy alternatives, as well as helping customers to better understand the labels on food items. She also works with schools, local hospital, and other nonprofit organizations to provide seminars and workshops on health and wellness.

Hassan has an associate degree in culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, and a bachelor’s degree in culinary nutrition. She lives in Waterbury and likes to cook, garden, and rollerblade in her spare time.

All nutritional services at ShopRite are free of charge to customers and customers can make an appointment with Hassan either by calling the store or emailing Hassan directly.
