Silas Bronson Library in Waterbury will be hosting book talks, craft classes, movies, and special event for adults, teens, and children. Friends of the Library have a book store in the lobby and East Wing for patrons.
Teen Pumpkin Painting for ages 14 and over will be held on October 6 at 6:00 pm in the Teen Zone. Attendees will paint and decorate their own pumpkin. Spooky Lanterns for Teen and Adults will be held October 26 at 10 am in the Mezzanine, during which they can create lanterns for the Halloween season using limited materials.
On October 7, people can learn to write a business plan at 6:30 pm with the Small Business Administration in main Reading Room. A Horror Movie Marathon for adults will be held on October 9 at 2 pm in the library auditorium. The movies are the Escape Room, Happy Death Day 2, and Brightburn.
On October 12 at 2:00 pm, author Stephen Spignesi comes to talk about his book ‘The Big Book of UFO Facts’. He shows rare photos and aerial maps based on his work in the main Reading Room.
Day of the Dead Workshop will take place in the Children’s Room on October 26 at 3:00 pm. This will have stories and crafts related to the Mexican holiday. Waterbury has printers that design Promotional Products for events like this.
Alse, the 15th Annual Mardi Gross and Halloween Comic Fest will be held on October 26 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. It will have costume contests, free candy, story mobile reads, food trucks, crafts, Halloween movies, free comics, and scary stories. The day is suitable for both adults and children.
