Currently, six train stations are on the Waterbury Branch – Derby, Ansonia, Seymour, Beacon Falls, Naugatuck, and Waterbury. According to the press release, the Waterbury Branch will be converted from 27 miles of single-track service to a two-way two-track rail service. This change will make it possible for the Waterbury branch to handle as many as 22 trains every weekday.
Local Print shops are frequently contacted to supply Menus and schedules - both paper ones for people to carry with them and large ones that attach to a wall.
In the press release, Lamont said:
"I have been laser-focused on improving rail and transportation throughout the state since I came into office, and the Waterbury Branch is a prime example of infrastructure in the state that needs significant upgrades. It's going to put people back to work, and it's going to get our state moving again."
According to the Governor, state funding in the amount of $1.23m, along with Federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act matching money, will be used to fund the Waterbury Branch upgrade.
The Federal infrastructure bill is anticipated to send $5.38bn to Connecticut over the next five years.
All of the upgrades to the Waterbury Branch are expected to be finished and the second set of tracks operational by Summer 2022.
