Festival to benefit farmers comes to Connecticut

Hartford will be hosting Farm Aid this fall. Many residents of nearby Waterbury will want to come to this concert to raise money for family farmers in the United States.

John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews, Neil Young, and Willie Nelson, all members of the board of Farm Aid will be performing at this 33rd annual event which features both music and food. Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Margo Price, Kacey Musgraves, and Chris Stapleton are also scheduled to perform with other artists to be announced at a later time.

In addition to the music, the Homegrown Village and Homegrown Concessions will have food stands with farm-sourced items from local family farms. There will also be activities about water, soil, farming and food at the Homegrown Village.

Willie Nelson, founder and President of Farm Aid, commented that the backbone of the country is the family farmer. People living in cities like Hartford or in more rural parts of New England or the rest of the country can be a positive force in the farm system and support and strengthen these families, so they can continue to do good and contribute to the country’s economy. Organizers of this sort of event often use flyer printing to draw attention to issues and fundraising efforts.

The concert will be held at the XFINITY Theatre on Saturday September 22.
