Bladesmithing course brings knowledge to Waterbury
A bladesmithing expert is offering a guided course to help interested parties pick up new skills in Waterbury, and interested parties are encouraged to register.
Jamie Lundell is teaching and leading the Introduction to Bladesmithing course, which will be ready to welcome students in a few weeks. This course offers a path to new hobbies and knowledge. Lundell will walk attendees through the steps of forging, grinding, and heat-treating small forged items like knives and tools.
Students will use 1075/1080 high-carbon steel and learn the basic techniques to grind the steel into a sharp blade. After forging and sharpening the knife, Lundell will demonstrate how to wrap the handle in paracord for added grip and protection for the user. Brochure printing is vital to help students in such courses learn the basics for safety and enjoyment.
All attendees must be 18 or older to register and attend the learning session. The class will take an hour break for lunch, and attendees can bring lunch from home or get food at a local restaurant. Students are also encouraged to bring a water bottle, as the course is physically demanding.
The workshop will be held on Saturday, November 9th, at Dragon’s Breath Forge. Doors will open at 9:00 AM, and class will end at 4:00 PM. Registration costs $185 per guest and can be completed online.
