Called a “heist film” by producer David Gere, the Blue Line should have a good deal of Connecticut flavor, including the state’s tumultuous winter weather.
Gere chose locations near Cromwell, his hometown. Residents may notice a bit more excitement in the area as explosions and car chases are part of the film. The Wild Bill’s store here in Middletown will feature prominently in the climactic car chase.
Area movie poster collectors will no doubt want to add ‘Blue Line’ to their collection and, given the local connection, local poster printing services may find a significant number of novices starting their collection with a poster for this movie.
A series of Connecticut storms have played an unscripted part in the film, adding a realistic element, as piles of snow have inserted themselves into various shots. With this came an added degree of difficulty for Tom McComas, the stunt coordinator for the film, who explained:
“What it actually does is change your traction in the car. Obviously you lose traction. So there will be more slides in the chase, the chase will be a little bit slower.”
In less than a year, Middletown residents will have a chance to see the film for themselves and pick out nearby landmarks and perhaps familiar faces among the dozens of locals who worked as extras.
