Middletown organic farming association to host winter conference

This March, the 41st Annual CT NOFA Winter Conference will take place in Middletown to discuss the future of food systems.

The CT NOFA stands for the Northeast Organic Farming Association of Connecticut, which is a community of local farmers, land care professionals, gardeners, and consumers working together to ensure the viability and growth of organic farming, food, and land care across Connecticut. The organization promotes environmentally friendly methods of farming, land care, and gardening that respectfully utilizes the planet’s soil, water, air, and biodiversity in order to preserve such resources for future generations.

The winter conference will happen in the second week of March and will comprise a week of live virtual workshops, culminating with an in-person gathering at Wesleyan University. The workshops will focus on topics such as community food security, farming, organic land care, seed saving, and social justice issues. There will also be a keynote speech by author and farmer Leah Penniman.

Conferences such as this provide ideal opportunities for attendees to network with their fellow peers and leaders. These networking activities may include the likes of social cocktail hours and the exchange of Business Cards.

The conference is scheduled for March 6 through 11. Wesleyan University can be found on 45 Wyllys Avenue. Registration fees will be on a sliding scale price, with the minimum being $35.
