Three different not for profit groups, including one in Middletown, have been selected to receive grants through Connecticut Humanities.
A total of $8,220 was given to the organizations. These include the Haddam Historical Society, The Connecticut River Museum in Essex, and Middletown’s Russel Library. The funding will be used to support the programs they deliver to the public.
Russel Library was given $2,820 of the monies that it will put to use in funding its Common Ground International Film Festival. This will involve both the screening of films and a discussion series to follow. The Haddam Historical Society’s portion will fund its public programs that provide an insight into the archeological excavation being undertaken at the Thankful Arnold House Museum. Finally, The Connecticut River Museum will put its grant towards the programming it is planning for this upcoming Halloween. A company that provides printing services will be able to provide any printed materials these groups require to deliver their programming to the public.
Altogether, Connecticut Humanities distributed over $34,500 in grants throughout the state. These were given to nine different not-for-profit organizations to provide financial support to the humanities-based programming they deliver. It does this each month using monies that were allocated to it through the Connecticut General Assembly. The recipients are chosen based on a merit-based, competitive application process.
