Environmental art exhibit to showcase in Middletown

A Connecticut artist is increasing awareness of the plastic pollution crisis through her exhibit titled Entangled & Ingested. It will be displayed in Middletown from November to February.

Kat Owens has a PhD in Governance and Sustainable Development, and advanced degrees in Environmental Studies, Biology, Anthropology, and Studio Art.

Owens’ work will present life-sized portraits of animals affected by human-generated plastic waste. Constructed from various discarded consumer materials and recyclables, her pieces combine elements of mosaic, quilting, and collage, resulting in intricate compositions that blend art with environmental awareness. Each portrait will not only showcase Owens’ artistic skill but also convey a sobering message: the same plastic pollutants that form these artworks are also the threats facing the wildlife she depicts.

The exhibit will be open in two locations on the Connecticut State Community College Middlesex campus, the Pegasus Gallery and The Niche. For viewing times, and other information attendees can visit the event’s Patch listing.

Poster printing can be used to provide information on the dates and times for exhibitions such as this one.

The exhibitions will be on display at Connecticut State Community College Middlesex, 100 Training Hill Road, Middletown, Connecticut. It will run from November 18th to February 7th. An opening reception for the exhibit will be held on Thursday, November 21st, from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Pegasus Gallery.
