Thanks to the efforts of first responders in Middletown, a cat was able to escape a dangerous situation with all of its nine live still intact.
The feline, which had crawled
into a car’s engine compartment and become trapped, needed help. The South Fire Department answered the call and, according to Middletown Animal Control, patiently took the time to reach the cat so it could be retrieved without causing it too much harm or distress. They further noted that it had a wound on its face and a burned paw but was otherwise in good shape and spirits. Cats will often seek warmth and shelter of a car’s engine area when it’s cold out, and poster printing can be used to help spread the word about warning cats by honking the horn before starting the vehicle.
The cat is reported be about four years old and does not have a microchip or appear to be well nurtured. The agency is hoping that a member of the public will be able to identify his owners or, once it is determined he can be adopted, be willing to provide him with a loving and permanent home.
