Fairfield Parks and Recreation has two child-centered events and one event for everybody planned for April.
Children from ages three to fifteen are invited to go fishing in a free trout derby. The chances of winning a prize will be good, as there will be many prize categories.
This year's Fairfield Fishing Derby will be Saturday, April 13 at Gould Manor Pond, 655 Holland Hill Road. Registration for the two-hour activity will begin at 8:00 am with the start time at 9:00 am.
On Monday, April 22, Fairfield will hold its annual Earth Day Community Cleanup. Volunteers of all ages will meet at the Jennings Beach Sail House, and gloves and trash Bags will be provided. This free event will run from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Finally, girls and boys in grades K through 8 are invited to don their semi-formal attire, grab their favorite adult, and appear at the city's Spring Fling Dance. Attendees can enjoy light refreshments, dancing, and music provided by a local DJ.
A photographer will be available for pictures. Photos shot at special events like this are often taken to local Print shops to be added to family newsletters.
Pre-registration is required. Tickets are $20, and carnation boutonnieres can be added for $6. Carnation corsages may be reserved for $10.
Fairfield's Spring Fling will take place Friday, April 26 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Penfield Complex's Jacky Durrell Pavilion, 323 Fairfield Beach Road.
