The 89th Dogwood Festival will be taking place for two days here in Fairfield in early May.
The event will offer a carefully juried craft fair with dozens of New England vendors selling hand-crafted items, jewelry, photographs, accessories and artisanal foods. In the playground area, children will have games to play, a bounce house to enjoy and crafts to make and take home.
Local adult performers and youth talent will be providing the music and Blossom Cafe will live music between noon and 2:00 pm along with fresh and healthy food for sale. Church bakers will be showcasing their culinary skills by offering cookies, cupcakes, breads and cakes at Blossom Bakery. Food trucks will be selling festive snacks and treats.
Outdoor Designs will have a Plant Boutique where guests may purchase potted plants, hanging baskets, annuals, perennials and herbs.
Volunteers will be leading guided walking history tours around the hill's historic sites while enjoying the iconic dogwood trees.
Many Stationery printers use pictures of dogwood trees in full bloom for the card fronts on their spring greeting cards and notecard sets.
Proceeds from the festival will go to local, regional and international charities.
The 89th Dogwood Festival will take place Saturday May 9th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday May 10th from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church, 1045 Old Academy Road.
