Safe Halloween program being offered

The Fairfield Kiwanis club will once again be sponsoring the Trick-or-Treat on Safety Street program this year, helping parents offer their children a safe and fun Halloween to remember.

To make the occasion as safe as possible for both parents and their kids, the Kiwanis club has taken over the Safety Street program officially called Trick or Treat on Safety Street. Children are invited to only visit businesses with a Kiwanis poster in the window, and participating members have been vetted by members of the Kiwanis club. In addition to candy, many will be offering knickknacks, such as promotional Pens, for the adults.

Local radio station Star 99.9 will also be on hand broadcasting music over speakers and passing out goodies. The Key Club will also have a booth downtown, offering information, advice, and free balloons for the children to take home.

This year’s Safety Street will be held Friday, October 30, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, in downtown Fairfield. There will be no specific starting point along the route from Thorpe Street at the First Niagara Bank to the Brick Walk at the Pink Cupcake Shack. Parents can just bring their kids downtown and escort them into any participating business on a random basis. Treats for the kids will be free of charge, and there is no need to register.
