Fairfield University will be celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. at the end of January and beginning of February. This year’s theme will be “Fighting for Justice and Liberation at Home and Abroad.”
On Monday, January 31st, the university will host a Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Reflection beginning at 5:00 pm at the Dogwood Room in the Barone Campus Center.
A Black History 101 Mobile Museum will be available to the public on Tuesday, February 1st from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on the Lower Level of the Barone.
On the same day, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, there will be a Black History Discussion on the Center’s Lower Level.
A Martin Luther King Jr. Reception will be held Wednesday, February 2nd, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the Dolan School Event Hall. A convocation will follow half an hour later at the Quick Center for the Arts. This year’s speaker will be Robin D.G. Kelley PhD., who is an author, educator and a Professor of American History at UCLA. His talk will be “The Wrong Side of the World Revolution,” which will address lessons for today in relation to King’s internationalism. The talk is free to attend but registration is required.
