Loveland workshop revives Victory Gardens

In days gone by, the Victory Garden movement helped those on the home front support the war effort, and a Loveland workshop will bring this practice into the 21st century.

Even if all they have is a small pot on their porch or balcony, most people can grow some of their own food, and the “Tiny Victory Gardens: Growing Vegetables Without a Yard” will help point the way. Part of the larger CSU Master Gardener Lecture Series, it is set to take place at 300 N. Adams Avenue.

The session will introduce container gardening, and it may be a good fit for those hoping to get their feet wet and learn from someone with experience. They will learn skills they can use in their own plantings, and the goal is for everyone to walk away knowing how to grow high-quality plants that produce food for their own table.

Home horticulturalists often appreciate the chance to learn some new techniques, and a workshop affords them an opportunity to do so. They may also meet others who share their interest, and Stationery printers can provide any Copies of handouts needed.

Loveland residents who would like to get the dirt on successful container gardening are welcome to attend this session, which will be offered on Friday, April 10. The agenda opens at 12:00 pm and runs for one hour.
