Herbalist to debut informative walks in Golden

A knowledgeable herbalist will be starting an educational walking series in February at the Wheat Ridge Greenbelt Youngfield Entrance in Golden.

Wild Walks is a new program created by Margaret James where people can learn about nature while hiking on a local trail. Her series will use natural subjects to help attendees contemplate their connection to the land they live on. The topic for James’ first lesson will be about tree bark and how it can educate students on self-preservation. The class will not involve any harvesting of plants, and the program will conclude with a group contemplation circle.

James works for Ayurveda as a health counselor and has experience as a perinatal health consultant. She is also the founder of Wild & Radiant Botanicals, a company that sells holistic wellness products. James’ new series was inspired by her friend Jacki Carr, the creator of the Goals Hike program. Other activities organized by James include yoga sessions and outdoor dance parties.

The Wild Walks series will debut on Sunday, February 5 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. There is no price to join James on her informative hike, though attendees should register for the trek in advance.
