Geology professionals gather in Golden

The Colorado School of Mines will host the New Developments in the Geology and Exploration of Mineral Deposits 2026 workshop this January in Golden.

This five-day technical program brings together some of the world’s foremost geologists and mineral exploration specialists to share research and methodologies shaping the future of mining science.

The event will feature an in-depth curriculum covering orogenic gold, porphyry, skarn, epithermal, volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS), and Cu-Ni-PGE sulfide deposits. Multiple instructors will be involved in the course, including Dr. Richard Goldfarb, Dr. David Cooke, Dr. Zhaoshan Chang, Dr. Jeffrey Hedenquist, Dr. Thomas Monecke, and Dr. Mike Lesher.

Each day will focus on specific ore deposit types, geological frameworks, and exploration strategies. Attendees will also gain insights into tectonic influences, geochemical patterns, hydrothermal systems, and current research in global metallogeny.

Participants may register for the full workshop or individual sessions. Pricing ranges from $77.87 for Colorado School of Mines students without meals to $1,619.95 for in-person company professionals. Group registration for up to 20 professionals is offered at $10,009.95. Tickets must be purchased by January 5th through PayPal. Refunds are available up to seven days before the event.

Organizers may use brochure printing to visually promote the conference and provide take-home educational material for participants.

The workshop will be held from January 6th to 10th, from 8 am to 5 pm at Berthoud Hall, Room 241, Colorado School of Mines, 1516 Illinois St, Golden, Colorado.
