Golden's Fairmount 5K to support education
The annual Fairmount 5K will take place this May at Fairmount Elementary School in Golden.
The event is open to runners and walkers of all ages and will raise funds for the teacher and student resources at the school. This artwork for this year was created by second-grader Izabella Morelles and third-grader Arthur Rodgers. They also coined the event’s slogan: "Run like a Firebird, You Must!"
The morning will feature music, refreshments, and community engagement. Medals will be awarded at 9:45 am to the top three overall finishers and the top three male and female runners in multiple age divisions. Special recognition will also go to the three best costumes.
The occasion will not include pancakes this year, however, fruit, muffins, and water will be provided. Food carts and promotional booths will be present.
Participants can choose from multiple race options, including the 5K for $37, the 5K walk for $31.75, and the fun run for $26.75. Registration fees include a processing charge, and sign-ups close at the start of each race. A commemorative event tote is available for $11.50. Participants in the 5K walk or run can join the fun run at no extra cost.
